What You Need to Know
Zirconia crowns can closely resemble the natural color of teeth. For precise color matching, we use specialized staining techniques, allowing us to perfectly align the shade with the patient’s natural tooth color or customize it according to the patient’s preferences.
Dental crowns are used when traditional restorative fillings are insufficient to restore a tooth’s integrity after damage. Crowns can be made from metal, zirconium, or a single piece of monolithic zirconium. In metal or zirconium-based crowns, the core is covered with porcelain to achieve the desired aesthetic appearance. However, porcelain crowns can sometimes experience chipping at the edges. To address this, we prefer using monolithic zirconia crowns, which offer both excellent aesthetics and durability.
Additionally, we use “laminate veneers” when tooth damage is minimal. Laminate veneers are applied to the front surface of the tooth with minimal or no preparation. For these cases, we use e-max veneers, made from highly translucent porcelain to achieve superior aesthetic results.
In cases of tooth loss, both implants and bridges offer different advantages depending on your personal situation. Implants are artificial tooth roots placed into the jawbone that replace a single tooth without affecting adjacent teeth. Bridges, on the other hand, are fixed prosthetics that rely on the surrounding healthy teeth to fill the gap.
However, if there are no issues or restorations with the teeth adjacent to the gap, implants are generally preferred. This is because implants preserve the natural structure of the surrounding teeth and allow each tooth to function independently.
Yes, general anesthesia can be utilized during dental treatments. This approach is particularly beneficial for pediatric patients with extensive dental decay where cooperation may be difficult. It is also suitable for patients with conditions such as mental retardation, Down syndrome, or severe gag reflex, where extreme anxiety necessitates sedation. General anesthesia helps minimize trauma for both the patient and their family, as well as within the clinical setting. Once the procedures are completed, the patient is carefully and safely awakened. For the best approach, local anesthesia is generally more comfortable for the patient during the post-operative stage and for the surgeon during the procedure. With local anesthesia, patients experience no pain during the treatment.
Teeth whitening usually takes about an hour. The duration of its effectiveness can vary depending on the patient’s exposure to staining foods and beverages, such as red wine, carrot juice, tea, coffee, and tobacco.
